How Do I Setup and Collect Sales tax in Shopify?
Setting up sales tax in your Shopify store can be confusing. Here are some basics steps we suggest starting with:
- Tell Shopify which states and goods to collect sales tax on
- Go to the home page, click “Settings”
- Click on “Taxes and Duties”
- Click on “United States”
- Click “Collect Sales Tax”
- Choose the states you want to collect sales tax
- Set up your sales tax shipping options
- Go back to “Settings”
- Click on “Taxes and Duties”
- Click “Tax calculation”
- Click “Charge tax on shipping rates”
- Tell Shopify which products to collect sales tax on
- Click “Products”
- Click “All Products”
- Select each product that sales tax should be charged
- After you edit each item, click “Charge tax on this variant”
- Add physical warehouse locations

What States Require Sales Tax Payments?
